Role and Responsibilities

Maintenance & Setup Summary:

  • Responsible for directing, supervising and planning all activities in the production department by performing the following duties.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and setting up of machines, supervision of employees & establishing processing by performing the following duties.
  • Performs a variety of electrical & hydraulic trade functions including installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and facilities including injection & hydraulic molding presses, chillers, water circulation loops, pumps, compressors, lathes, and mills.
  • Confirms proper operation of manufacturing machines, equipment, and facilities each day.
  • Maintains tools & repairs equipment and facility in optimum working condition.
  • Applies knowledge and ability to complete necessary repairs to all phases of manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions promptly to determine the proper course of action. Replaces & repairs various machine components on a routine basis.
  • Inspects damaged parts, determine the nature of the repair, and use repair tools to rework or refinish worn or damaged parts.
  • Inspects, tests, and adjusts all systems, machinery, and equipment regularly.
  • Records inspections, tests, and repairs on preventive maintenance logs.
  • Maintains complete documentation for each manufacturing machine regarding repairs, upgrades, and other relevant data.
  • Records recommendations on repair work needed.
  • Responds to verbal or written instructions for safety and security calls regarding machinery.
  • Plans and layouts work from blueprints, diagrams, operation manuals, manufacturer's specifications, and other specifications.
  • Disassembles equipment using hand tools and power tools as required.
  • Uses proper tools and equipment safely to complete each repair.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts and equipment.
  • Reassembles equipment and tests performed as needed.
  • Sets up new machines as needed.
  • Reports any safety-related issues or accidents to management immediately.
  • Ensures the work area is cleaned and safe at the end of each workday.
  • Secures tools, materials, and equipment in the proper area at the end of each day.
  • Sets up, programs & develops processes according to assigned job/customer orders.
  • Assures route sheet (traveler), blueprint, and any other specification(s) are present before beginning set up. Reads and follows documentation to meet specifications.
  • Installs molds, programs injection, and compression presses & follow the information on the routing sheet for each specific job as well as all other company procedures & policies.
  • Assures material is present and meets the correct specifications of each job as stated on the routing sheet (traveler).
  • Develops process on new jobs using the guidelines transferred from the quoted values to the routing sheet (traveler) to achieve optimum efficiency & quality. On recurring jobs, adjusts processes where necessary to achieve optimum efficiencies & quality.
  • Inspects first pieces before presenting to quality for approval.
  • Sets the machine monitoring system according to the proper mode of the job once the process is established and the first parts have been submitted to quality; the process should be locked.
  • Assures that the work area is set up properly set up with materials, mold release, and any hand tools required, and clean before the start-up of each job.
  • Once approved by quality, trains molding operators in accordance with the process developed or established depending on the situation.
  • Continues to monitor process periodically to ensure consistent quality and efficiencies are stable.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations.
  • Occasional overtime will be required when necessary, including after-hours & weekends.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Production Summary: Responsible for directing, supervising and planning all activities in the production department by performing the following duties.

  • Leads planning, scheduling, monitoring and improving production processes.
  • Manages and develops personnel on a day-to-day basis.
  • Produces parts in accordance with established travelers and procedures.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities to best meet customer needs.
  • Daily timekeeping and analysis.
  • Utilizes production statistics and recommends forecasts for future production.
  • Communicates production schedules and production problems.
  • Responsible for first article setups and establishing molding parameters.
  • Responsible for set up verification and operation of equipment, material use, job assignments, material labeling and other related activities on respective shift.
  • Ensures equipment operation and production, meets quality control standards by monitoring throughout the shift, and takes corrective action immediately as needed.
  • Ensures that equipment, tools, fixtures, documents and forms are stored properly and available for production.
  • Develop and coordinate staff training, safety procedures and protocols facility-wide.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with a safe work environment incorporating housekeeping standards (6S). Maintains and controls the physical condition of the plant and surrounding grounds.
  • Ensures hazardous materials are used in a proper manner and proper waste disposal.
  • Maintains & enforces policies, procedures and guidelines consistent with company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Establishes and monitors compliance with all federal, state and local statutes.
  • Be aware of security and the safety of the building and employees. Report any unsafe condition to management as required.
  • Responds to building or employee incidents or accidents promptly and appropriately, and report to management as the situation warrants.
  • Functions as a backup for any and all positions as required.
  • Complies with company policies and procedure guidelines with special attention to safety regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

BS Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations.

10-15 years' minimum experience managing a manufacturing facility and operation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
