We’re currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer located in Portland, OR.
Overview:
The Electrical Engineer supports the Port of Portland Design and Construction departments by providing engineering support for the design, improvement, maintenance, and/or construction of infrastructure and facilities. Examples of projects this position will support include leading the design of electrical improvements of the capital program that may include evaluation of electrical supply throughout the Airport systems including but not limited to pump stations, airfield lighting, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, access controls, UPS, and generators. This role will review consultant designs, and problem-solving and oversee project development with maintenance and operations teams.
Required Education:
- Bachelors degree with a major in electrical engineering, or a related field
Preferred Certifications/Licenses:
- P.E. - Professional Engineer – Electrical Focus (State of Oregon)
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
- 4 years’ experience across all electrical disciplines desired.
- Previous construction experience is preferred.
- Experience with Aviation or Airport construction is a plus.
- Experience with MS Office and MS Projects.
- Experience with electronic data base systems like ProCore and Bluebeam
- Experience with CAD (computer-aided design)
- Coordination experience with design, coordination, and production of construction contract documents.
- Understanding of engineering design standards, construction specifications, and related building codes and regulations for integration into project plans and designs.
- Cost estimating procedures and best practices.
- Current industry techniques and practices for constructability
- Candidate required to pass a background check and TSA security for badging.
Responsibilities:
- Work with consultants to develop scope of work, schedule and budgets for capital projects and subsequently oversee the delivered work.
- Review design plans and specifications.
- Review contractor submittals and assist with design clarification responses.
- Review as-built drawings and provide field verification assistance.
- Experience applying engineering theory, principles, practices, costs, construction techniques, trends, regulations, standards, equipment, and materials related to electrical engineering.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting technical engineering plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of managing, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, safety, and administrative practices.
Preferred skills and abilities:
- Experience in all disciplines with focus on low voltage systems including but not limited to fire alarm/detection systems and security systems.
Salary:
- $56.00 - $60.00 per hour

A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management’s discretion.
