What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Special Security Officer (SSO) position at CNA?
JOB DESCRIPTION AND / OR DUTIES
Assist CSSO in analyzing, interpreting, and implementing security related policies, procedures, methods, requirements, practices, deliverables and/or directives; assist in writing and reviewing security plans, and identifying and conducting assessments, audits, and inspections.
Serve as a general resource to employees, on SCI related matters in accordance with CNA, Navy, DoD and IC directives, instructions, and requirements.
Assist CSSO in the maintenance of SCI security and oversight of daily SCIF operations.
Open/close SCIF in coordination with CSSO.
Maintain applicable SCI directives, regulations, manuals, and guidelines.
Maintain SCIF calendar.
Facilitate SCI Video Teleconferences (VTCs).
Review and submit Contractor Nomination Letters (CNLs).
Provide regular updates on status of CNLs.
Review and submit SF86Cs.
Review and submit SCI visit access requests (VARs) for CNA personnel.
Confirm receipt of SCI VARs for visitors to CNA.
Review and submit foreign travel request packages, foreign travel questionnaires, and foreign contact interview forms.
Review Defense Information Security System (DISS) listings of all CNA personnel regularly to ensure accuracy.
Serve as alternate Communications Security (COMSEC) custodian.
Conduct SCI personnel, information, physical, and technical security in accordance with applicable guidance.
Provide continuing security education training and awareness (SETA) to all SCI-cleared and program-briefed individuals.
Track status of staff compliance with required training.
Conduct and document SCIF self-inspections in coordination with the CSSO.
Provide support during site assist visits (SAVs) conducted by the government.
Liaison with CNA non-SCI security personnel, as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of related security experience in government and/or contractor SCIF. Experience in physical and facilities security program management to include accreditation policies and processes for SCIF.
Clearance: Must have active top secret security clearance and SCI eligibility upon hire. Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for SCI access. Ability to support staff SCI work with occasional extended workday or weekend hours.
Skills:
Ability to work as part of a security team that can respond rapidly to the needs of CNA staff and clients.
Ability to work effectively with staffs at other Department of Navy (DON) and Department of Defense (DOD) commands.
Strong understanding and working knowledge of: Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs); Director Central Intelligence Directives (DCIDs); National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM); DOD personnel and information security regulations; Information systems security program requirements; Defense Information Security System (DISS) and Scattered Castles databases. Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
Effective written and oral communications skills to support interaction with all levels of personnel. Applicant should have a “customer service” mindset and strong interpersonal skills.
Other: Ability to lift/push/pull at least 30 lbs.
This position is not eligible for telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements. Occasional flexible work schedule may be possible at the discretion of the Supervisor.
