Position Summary:

A proctor is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of examinations, assessments, or other activities conducted within an academic, professional, or controlled environment. Proctors ensure that all rules and regulations are adhered to and provide assistance and support to individuals taking exams or participating in events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Exam Supervision: Monitor candidates during examinations to prevent cheating, plagiarism, or any form of academic misconduct.
Distribute exam materials, collect completed papers, and maintain a controlled testing environment.

Rule Enforcement: Enforce exam rules and regulations, including verifying the identity of candidates and ensuring they follow specified guidelines.
Address any violations or irregularities promptly and report them to appropriate authorities.

Assistance and Accommodation: Provide support to candidates with special accommodations, such as extra time or assistive devices.
Offer guidance and assistance to individuals with questions or technical issues.

Security and Confidentiality: Safeguard the confidentiality of exam content and candidate information. Ensure that exams and related materials are securely stored before and after testing.

Technology and Equipment:Familiarize candidates with technology or equipment required for online or computer-based exams.
Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate them as needed.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of exam sessions, including attendance, incidents, and irregularities. Compile and submit reports to supervisors as required.

CommunicationCommunication:Communicad Communication: Communicate effectively with candidates, instructors, and administrative staff. Provide clear instructions and answer questions related to the exam process.

Procedural Compliance: Ensure compliance with institutional policies, testing guidelines, and relevant laws and regulations. Stay updated on any changes in exam protocols or requirements.

Emergency Response:Be prepared to respond to emergencies or disruptions during exams, such as medical incidents or technical failures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require postsecondary education.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with technology and the ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
