Director/VP Operations

Co–Star’s mission is to reclaim technology for a meaningfully collective future of humanity. Since our October 2017 launch, we’ve grown to over 7,000,000 registered users. We’ve raised over $6 million in venture capital from people like Emily Weiss, along with the VCs behind companies like Everlane and eBay, and the team has grown to 10 employees.

For over 2,500 years humans have utilized astrology for human reflection, connection, and community. Co-Star provides a language that allows and encourages people to have emotionally intimate moments with their friends, creating deeper, more meaningful relationships. In the wake of big social media, rising depression and anxiety, and growing personal isolation, this is more important than ever.

We’re hiring someone to lead operations to drive organizational maturity and individual performance. This will entail strategy, execution, and management, while making decisions in close collaboration with content, product, and engineering, along with the CEO.

Responsibilities

Internal processes

• Lead efforts to build a focused, effective, and collaborative systems-driven culture that attracts, retains and rewards phenomenal people through education, process, performance reviews, career development, dashboards, and other initiatives.
• Create a well-oiled, data-driven machine for effectively generating performant, on-brand creative – both within the app and as marketing – through process, structure, calendars, division of roles, etc. 
• Support, mentor, and develop talent across the team.  

Operations 

• Lead budgeting. Systematize company finances. Manage the relationship and work-streams of an outside bookkeeping agency. Drive negotiations to control costs.
• Oversee company policy initiatives – community guidelines, privacy policy, data, etc.
• Build competency in hiring quickly and effectively, building a recruiting pipeline, and interview process. 

As appropriate 

• Support with capital raise & board meetings.
• Misc. strategic projects, including partnerships, internationalization, and monetization.

Qualifications: 

• 5+ years professional operational experience
• 2+ years experience leading and mentoring a team
• Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to drive decision-making
• Highly systematic, structural thinker with a strong relationship to technology
• Ability to thrive in a very high-paced environment
• Experience with tech, fashion/lifestyle, hypergrowth a plus
