About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax/Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing various tax-related functions within our organization. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Experience with reconciling sales tax across the United States and Canada with a large volume of transactions. This includes how the sales tax being recorded on transactions should impact the General Ledger.
- Experience with the sale of physical items in a direct-to-consumer eCommerce situation.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles and how operational activity will impact the financial statements.
- Possess an attention for detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Be a self-starter, inherently curious, and a creative problem solver.
- The person for this role cannot be afraid of digging into the details and trying to learn about all other functions of the business.
- Have experience with the NetSuite ERP system and Avalara (AvaTax).
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Great professional interpersonal communication skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 3 years of experience in tax accounting, with a strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, ProSeries) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with tax planning and strategy development is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of international tax laws and regulations is a plus.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
Compensation DetailsSalary $75k- $95k DOE
PTO 10 days. In addition, COAST offers 7 paid days for Holidays.
Kaiser Health Plan Effective the 1
st of the month following 30 days from FTE hire date.
401K w/ matching Effective 1-year after FTE hire date

This is a full-time position working from COAST’s Portland, Oregon HQ office location, 3 days in office 2 from home; Hours are 8a-5p.
