Veterinary Technician

Veterinary technician/nurse wanted full-time for busy, expanding, 5 doctor, small animal practice in sunny Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Our practice has all the bells and whistles: In-house Idexx lab suite, digital radiographs, 2 dental stations with VetPro 5000 and digital dental radiographs, ultrasound, Companion Laser therapy, paperless EzyVet practice management software.

The applicant should be confident at the following clinical skills:

IV catheter placement on both dogs and cats

Drawing blood

Intubation

Anesthesia induction and monitoring

Dental cleaning

Complete urinalysis

Ear cytology

Reading blood smears

Reading fecal exams

Utilizing Idexx Catalyst, Procyte, Snap Readers, UA, Vetstation

Pet restraint

Acquiring dental radiographs

While clinical skills are important, the applicant's personality and communication skills are equally vital. The applicant must be a team player with a positive, friendly, energetic, outgoing personality. He/she must be able to communicate fluently in the English language both verbally and in writing. Our operating hours are Mon-Fri 7:30 am -- 7pm and Sat-Sun 9 am -- 5 pm. Weekend shifts are rotated among staff. No on-call shifts.While we prefer to hire experienced technicians/nurses, we will consider new graduates or those with some practical experience.

Our goal is to hire someone who will become an integral part of the practice and remain with us long-term. Compensation is dependent on experience.
