Are you a good reporter who's ready to take the next step up in your career? Maybe you're an editor at a similar community newspaper who wants to explore a new area (where there are no state taxes!) Our company, Coastal Bend Publishing, publishes newspapers (websites, newsletters) in six markets north of Corpus Christi. We are based in Beeville, Texas, and we're looking for someone to lead the news coverage at our flagship newspaper. What's better, we aren't measuring the right candidate by the tired metric of experience. You may have two years of journalism experience, or your may have 20 - it really doesn't matter.

What does matter is we find the right person who has the qualities of a journalist. Obviously, we'd like to hire someone who understands the art of writing - news, features, opinion. More important, though, is that sixth sense of curiosity. We're looking for a journalist who likes to ask questions, follow stories where they lead, and surprise our readers every week. We're looking for someone who knows government meetings aren't the story, just the story-idea session. And we need a journalist who understands he or she can become one of the most important people in a small town like ours.

The newspapers we own and operate are in one of the fastest-growing areas of Texas, with wonderful access to the outdoors, city life and the Gulf Coast. We are a company looking to grow, and we have not lost sight of the value of good journalism. We're constantly seeking to improve our reach through digital avenues, and we're excited to find an editor who will bring more ideas to the room.
