Purpose:

  • The project manager will Manage, supervise and plan construction survey activities as well as execute project management functions including: project coordination, communication, milestone tracking, and scheduling responsibilities for assigned projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preliminary survey work necessary for preparing plans and estimating costs for construction work
  • Install field stakes as required including, but not limited to, construction work limits, right of way lines, and project construction activities
  • Uses surveying instruments, tools, and related computer software to produce layouts
  • Inspects to ensure that proper compliance with construction specifications is adhered to
  • Meet with field superintendents and project managers to determine and satisfy their survey requirements
  • Prepare certifications, as-builts, and survey information for delivery to clients
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Experience:

  • 4 years of survey experience in the heavy/civil construction industry
  • 2 years of project management experience in the heavy/civil construction industry

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Ability to proficiently utilize the programs with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to proficiently utilize AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Ability to travel extensively and for extended periods of time
  • Ability to be a highly motivated, self-starter
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
  • Ability to adhere to schedules
  • Ability to assess and quickly solve problems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Possess considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of surveying and experience working in the surveying field in regards to heavy construction
  • Possess considerable knowledge of the uses of surveying instruments and equipment such as transits, levels, ranging poles, level rods, measuring tapes, EDM Total Stations and GPS Total Stations.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Possess commercial instincts

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required
    • PPE includes but is not limited to: hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes (steel toe or metatarsal), and /or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and may change based on the location in which the work is being completed
  • Ability to walk, step, climb, and otherwise move from one location on the job site to another
    • Depending on equipment in use, the chosen candidate must be able to physically get into and get out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height
  • Ability to visually see worksite environment and observe equipment operations (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to complete repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders. Working at elevated heights
  • Ability to lift up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
  • Ability to carry up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
  • Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to the elements
  • Ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid state issued driver’s license required
  • Surveyor license required
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred

Educational Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree from four-year accredited college or university with a concentration in Civil Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study is preferred; however, candidates with directly applicable project management experience will be considered in lieu of education

Travel:

  • Travel required on an is needed basis
