Coastal Health currently searching for a full-time, motivated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse APRN for our outpatient facility. Strong candidates will be responsible for practicing medicine under the guidance and supervision of physicians and surgeons. Examines patients, diagnoses diseases, determines treatments, and prescribes medication.

Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and treats pain related issues including giving injections. Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a APRN's scope of work.
Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
Counsels patient/family on preventive health care.
Documents patient information and care in medical record and may maintain department statistical database for research purposes.
Basic Requirements:
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
Current Florida RN license (or eligible) and certification (or eligible to be certified) as a FNP; or
Experience:
Minimum 1-3 years experience in an outpatient setting required.
Knowledge:
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge of medical model and roles of physicians and nurse practitioners. Familiar with anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis.
Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including taking medical histories, performing physicals, evaluating health status including state of wellness, and compliance with care recommendations.
Knowledge of diagnosing and treating medical problems and developing care plans.
Knowledge of documentation in medical records in confidential manner.
Skills:
Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
Skill in developing/revising patient care plan based on patient status.
Abilities:
Ability to make responsible decisions within scope of nurse practitioner practice.
Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians on complicated cases.
Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in user-friendly manner.
Ability to demonstrate eye–hand coordination, full range of motion, and manual dexterity.
Education: MSN required. Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program.
Experience: Minimum three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of nurse practitioner experience preferred.

Work Environment: Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Nurse Practitioner such as standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts or moves up to 100 lbs. Requires correct vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.

- Current state registered nurse license.
- Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, basic nutrition, behavioral factors, psychosocial/family systems, diagnostic testing, interpretation of results and clinical decision making, alternative treatment modalities.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care, and professional ethics related to the delivery of nursing care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of health promotion, health risk identification, and patient education principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of community, professional, and educational resources.
- Knowledge of practice management systems including electronic health record systems (EHRs).
- Skill in oral and written communication; interviewing to gather medical histories; providing presentations, consultations, facilitation, and documentation, e.g., writing medical orders, patient education materials, and medical record updates.
