Job Description

At CoBank, our Capital Markets Specialist I/II coordinates the interrelationship between Capital Markets and Operations in documenting and closing all syndicated and sold loans.  Leads dissemination of borrower reports and other required information to syndicate members and farm credit institutions purchasing participations. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepares Participation Certificates for sales to farm credit institutions and Assignment Agreements for sales to syndicate banks. Coordinates the execution of these documents and delivery to Operations.  Provides fully executed document to participants.  Coordinates the closing date of the sales with Operations.
  • Maintains database of loans sold to farm credit institutions. Ensures sold loans are flagged in the Compliance Monitoring system.
  • Assists the Capital Markets Officers in completing the Loan Sale Workbooks. Posts items to and manages relevant web sites.
  • Disseminates financial statements as required by the credit agreement to participants. Follows up on related participant questions.  Provides fully executed credit agreements to participants. 
  • Assists the Capital Markets Officers in the syndication process by collecting bank commitments, Administrative Details forms, bank group approvals, and providing a closing notification to participants.
  • Assists in documenting process changes.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

 Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in operational and administrative aspects of complex corporate, syndicated, and participated credits; or an appropriate combination of education and experience.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation, credit practices, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand credit reports and loan agreements in order to discern relevant facts.
  • Analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to solve problems and identify when to escalate issues.
  • Ability to produce work that is timely, accurate and thorough.
  • Excellent detail and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, and interact with and engage others appropriately at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete regular work and special projects among competing timelines and priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other relevant business applications.
  • Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours.

 Compensation Information

  • Estimated Base Salary Range: $55,000-$75,000
  • Target short-term incentive opportunity: 6%-9%
