Job Description

Director UI/UX Design is a motivated, hands-on leader responsible for the overall UI/UX design strategy, design standards, and execution of our digital first strategy to re-imagine the user experience through our digital channels. Partnering closely with product, this role will tightly align with the product vision and strategy to ensure we are creating easy, intuitive designs to drive adoption, usage, and self service of the new digital experience. This role will report into the VP of Product Management, Digital Portal and will have deep experience in setting the UI/UX design strategy, driving customer research and prototyping, and delivering an exceptional user experience for our customers. The ideal candidate for this role should have exceptional design skills and experience, a passion for UI/UX design and innovation, a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, and a track record of building successful digital experiences. You should also possess excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead a team through the entire UI/UX design process.

Essential Functions

1. Experience developing UI/UX design strategy aligned with the overall product vision and strategy. 2. Deep understanding and hands on experience in information architecture, site blueprint mapping, and interaction design. 3. Excellent UI/UX design skills showcasing problem solving techniques focused on the customer 4. Expertise in design software such as Figma, Figjam, and Miro. 5. Knowledge in user research tools such as usertesting.com or Maze 6. Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and practices, journey mapping techniques, and persona development based on research and data. 7. Experience in conducting user research and usability testing to support evidence-focused design decisions. 8. Excellent communication skills to articulate design decisions and process. 9. Developing wireframes and task flows based on user needs 10. Collaborating with Designers and Developers to create intuitive, user-friendly software 11. Understand product specifications and user psychology 12. Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback 13. Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success 14. Work with existing UI Developer to create wireframes and prototypes around customer needs 15. Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability) 16. Experience with digital and responsive design 17. Comfortable as a hands on contributor to designs, mockups and wire frames 18. Ability to lead and manage a team in a scaled agile organization 19. Ability to work in a matrixed, cross functional team

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Design Thinking, or a related discipline. required

Work Experience

10 years of proven experience as a UX Designer responsible for Design and UX Research and advocating for customer experience, required 3 years of experience in user research and usability testing required 5 years of experience managing direct reports in an agile / scaled agile environment required Prior Experience in Financial Services and Banking, required 1. Strong Interpersonal and consultative skills – Seeks understanding, excellent listener2. Strong presentation and communication skills3. Ability to collaborate across product, engineering, marketing and key stakeholders4. Detail-oriented and able to deliver at an elevated level of accuracy5. Experience working with agile development methodologies.6. Strong portfolio showcasing web application projects, detailing your role and process7. Strong portfolio of design projects8. Proven expertise in creating designs that work seamlessly across multiple devices and screen sizes9. Background in project management and research10. Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture11. Proficient in design software (e.g. Figma)12. Some knowledge of HTML/CSS; JavaScript/React is a plus13. Problem-solving aptitude14. Analytical mind with a business acumen15. Effective communication skills and the ability to articulate design decisions and thought processes

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $169,462 - $235,637. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
