The Dietary Aide is responsible for the preparation of special diet plates, box lunches, salads, snacks, and substitutes according to the dietitians & resident requests. As the Dietary aide, you'll maintain the accuracy of diets utilizing residents' tray cards. This position will set up Adaptive Devices on the food truck and set up meal service in the unit dining room. In this position, you will also maintain the cleanliness of work areas and equipment, assist with checking and sorting residents' tray tickets for each meal, and prepare special snacks for all the units.

Shift & Hours: Part-Time (3 days/ week) 12PM-8PM including holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Set up lunch and/or dinner meal service/trays in the unit dining room.
- Prepare special sandwiches for lunch and dinner, as posted on the bulletin board, also lunch and dinner substitutes listed on the menu.
- Prepares salads and salad plates for lunch and dinner according to production requirements. Place salads and sandwiches on trays.
- Load food truck with hot, cold, and puree items.
- Checks and sorts residents' menus for lunch and/or dinner.
- Cleans tray cart, food trucks, and equipment used. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and area.
- Uses proper food handling techniques ensuring safety and sanitation.
- Responds to calls from the units. Is aware of and is responsive to the needs of the residents.
- Follows job assignments and procedures as outlined.
- Responds to fire drills with the appropriate equipment.
- Uses spill and eye wash kit appropriately.
- Notifies supervisor of any damaged/malfunctioning equipment.
- Attends departmental and mandatory in-service/meetings when scheduled.
- Interacts with residents, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner.
- Displays a positive attitude within the department and across departmental lines in support of the facility's programs and mission.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate goals and objectives.
The ideal candidate:
- Must be a High School graduate or have High School Equivalency Diploma.
- Knowledge of diets and some previous experience in the Dietary Department of Health Care Facility is preferred, but not required
- Must be able to read, understand, speak and write English.
- Knowledge of food sanitation and safety procedures desired.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to employees, dining room staff, and guests. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods up to four (4) hours in length. Must have the ability to lift pots, pans, etc. up to 40 pounds
