Refrigeration Mechanic

Position Summary/ Objectives

The Refrigeration Mechanic will be responsible to perform maintenance and repairs to manufacturing and facility equipment to support business and production needs. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who is willing to learn. Education/License/Certification

• Valid driver’s license
• Universal EPA 608 certification
• Degree from HVAC technical institute or school preferred but not require

Essential Job Functions:

• Inspect, repair, modify, maintain and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment and their controls
• Perform field service and regular preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment
• Braze and solder pipes and refrigeration lines to repair or install components
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
• Individual may work indoors or outdoors, alone or with a team
• Responsible for work in 3 facilities in North Bergen area

Qualifications:

● A minimum of 10-15 years experience working in the HVAC/refrigeration field

● Excellent mechanical knowledge and understanding of all types of HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment

● Great mechanical skills and ability to use manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to the HVAC and refrigeration trade

● Brazing and soldering skills

● Experience with boilers

● Ability to work from blueprints, drawings and schematics in constructing and repairing equipment.

● Skilled in diagnosing, using testing devices and repairing HVAC and refrigeration equipment

● Computer tablet experience and basic record-keeping techniques

● Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills with attention to detail

● Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and follow and understand oral and written instructions

● Ability to work cooperatively with others, work independently with little direction and meet schedules and deadlines
