What is CodeHS?

CodeHS is a comprehensive program for helping schools teach computer science. We provide web-based curriculum, teacher tools and resources, and professional development.

Must be authorized to work in the US and based in the US.
  
We are a distributed team. Company headquarters is in Chicago, IL. This is a role based in Chicago, 5 days a week in the company HQ office. The CodeHS Chicago office is at 747 N LaSalle in River North.
 
Target start date is February to April 2024. 

 

 

Professional Development Specialist Job Description

CodeHS is looking to hire a Professional Development Specialist to help lead professional development sessions for teachers, help create and maintain professional development content.

Responsibilities:

  • Run in-person and virtual professional developments for teachers to train on CodeHS
  • Run PD sessions on various CodeHS courses
  • Run PD sessions on general CS education and CS teaching topics
  • Build new professional development materials and resources
  • Maintain and edit existing PD materials
  • Travel to schools or districts to run PD sessions when needed. Note: In the summer it is likely there is a significant amount of travel
  • Be an expert on CodeHS curriculum and platform
  • Customize PD sessions for specific district or state scenarios

Requirements:

  • You have led PD sessions before for teachers
  • Experience teaching AP CS A, or proficient in Java 
  • Experience working in education or edtech
  • Taught computer science in K-12
  • Work well independently and autonomously, a self-starter
  • Works well in teams
  • Professional and clear at email
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Passionate about helping students and schools
  • Excited to work at a small company and make a big impact
  • Travel - 10-15% - to run in person workshops. Primarily in the summer. Other travel may include company or department meet ups.
