Who We're Looking For!.
A Lead Database Administrator for a 1 year contract role requiring a hybrid model in either Charlotte, NC or San Francisco, CA. This role requires expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, and AWS migration.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, and AWS migration to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a team of DBAs, providing technical expertise in both operations and migration to AWS, and supporting the company's mission-critical databases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of DBAs in both SQL Server and Oracle environments.
- Provide technical expertise in operations, performance tuning and optimization of SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Design and implement database backup and recovery strategies.
- Lead the migration of databases from on-premises to AWS cloud platforms.
- Configure and maintain database security, access, and permissions.
- Monitor database performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Developer and maintain database documentation, including data models, data dictionaries, and database design specifications.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure database design and performance meet application requirements.
- Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning exercise.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions for all databases.
- Conduct regular maintenance and upgrade activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in database administration in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.
- Experience with AWS migration and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and ideally PeopleSoft (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with database security, access, and permissions.
- Strong problem solving skills and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong mentoring skills.
