In this role you will be responsible for:
- Oversee the operation of Internal and External Manufacturing
- Develop strategic long-term planning to ensure manufacturing capacity and capabilities. Prioritize resources and projects.
- Authorize standard operating procedures, batch records, process deviations reports, CAPAs, and change control requests; leads initiatives for the continuous improvement of safety, quality, and operations.
- Identify and qualify new CMOs; sustain current CMOs; Partner with Legal and Business Management to implement new manufacturing partnerships
- Prepare annual budget.
- Provides mentoring and management guidance to teams; communicate goals based on project objectives
- Oversee manufacturing department, which includes the pilot plant, cell banking, and contract manufacturers.
- Instill best in class practices for managing external manufacturing relationships.
- Ensure the safety and security of selected contract manufacturers.
- Establish and implement a strategy for continuous improvement, including work process improvements across all areas.
- Mentor and develop team members – especially helping future leaders develop themselves and their teams.
- Cultivate a continuous improvement culture and overhaul business processes in manufacturing to advance operational excellence.
- Collaborate closely with commercial leaders and product management to ensure the internal/external manufacturing supply is right-sized and has the right capabilities to appropriately mitigate business risks and support the medium-term growth of diverse businesses with quite different needs.
To be successful in this role, your background and experience should include:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience, including manufacturing and technology transfer in a quality-driven and regulated environment, and in leadership roles with increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership and cross-functional team building skills.
- Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of enzyme development and/or fermentation processes desired.
