What are the responsibilities and job description for the Print Pressman - 2nd shift position at Cogent Analytics?
For nearly 60 years, our client Allied Litho has been a Midwest leader for high quality standard and large-format lithography. They are looking for a Press Operator to assist in all aspects of running the press as designated by the first pressman.
\n- Assist 1st Pressman in directing and motivating crew members
- Maintain register, side guide and assorted sheet squares
- Assist pressman in maintain quality and production of job and with his paperwork (time sheets, load tickets, etc.)
- Install plates and blankets, wash blankets, and gum plates.
- Help during press wash ups.
- Quality of make-ready procedure.
- Pre-plan for next job with pressman.
- Change rollers when needed and make adjustments.
- Prepare plates and blankets and packing during make-ready.
- Maintain cleanliness of press area (Good Housekeeping)
QUAIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Ability to read, write, and figure general math problems. High school diploma or equivalent GED required. One to two years press training experience preferred. Must be able to put onto feeder. Minimum of 5 years printing experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to comprehend direction from head pressman. Good command of English language, for effective direction of other members of press crew.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understandings of machinery and assist pressman in troubleshooting printing problems.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Need good mechanical skills and understanding of how machinery works. Needs to be adept with hand tools.

All must have close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus, must not have color vision impairment. Must be able to walk or stand for entire work shift. Must use fingers and hands to handle or feel. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Reach with hands and arms. Able to lift and move 60 pounds. All individual job requirements are not inclusive.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near mechanical moving parts, and a Solvent Fume Environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud; however, ear protection is provided.
