What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oracle DBA position at Cognizant?
We are looking for Oracle DBA for an immediate need. This is a client-facing role & the candidate will have regular interactions with various client managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works with developers to assist in code pushes for production Oracle database changes.
- Ensures Oracle databases and Linux servers are up to date.
- Creates and manages Oracle database accounts and schemas
- Provides technical support and consultation for the implementation and usage of Oracle databases and data.
- Provides direction to technical leads, analysts, designers, and developers in the testing of applications and data integration processes.
- Researches and recommends software products and services to support development efforts.
- Maintains existing Oracle applications.
- Enforces security by using standard company tools, such as WSSO, AD security groups, and standard architecture practices.
- Manages the support for operational database processes to ensure that SLAs are met.
- Partners with our DBA team and other architects to provide strategic direction, cost estimates, design, and build of new data solutions.
- Forecasts needed resources, such as vendors, technologies, consultants, staffing needs, and training for the team to accomplish business objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5 years of Oracle database architect or administration experience.
- Experience with the following technologies: Oracle databases, SQL Server databases, SSIS, and SSAS. SSRS
- Strong experience with systems development processes, data modeling, and data architecture, and data masking
- Experience completing Oracle upgrades and migrations.
- Experience in Oracle database, RMANN, Linux, data masking, and data virtualization.
- Mastery of IT and Oracle security requirements.
- Knowledge of Oracle licensing and ability to recommend licensing, features, and database design to ensure Geo-Blue maximizes the return on Oracle licensing investments.
- Excellent priority and time management skills; Can effectively implement multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to organize information in an effective manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Employee is required to have at minimum an internet speed of 75 Mbps (standard high-speed internet access).
Working Conditions:
- Schedule flexibility is occasionally necessary in this position. Individual may be required to attend key business/departmental meetings and/or perform certain business critical job functions outside of normal working hours.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to communicate internally and externally through receiving and responding to auditory and visual methods.
