Coherent’s Electro-Optics Components Business Unit has an opening for a Product Line Manager. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of the laser industry, be able to network with the key contacts in current and future customers of Coherent, as well as a proven success record with managing product lines in a technical field.

Job Summary

Take responsibility for overall health of product line, including product definition, product release, ongoing P&L and obsolescence. Develop product strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and implements the “go-to-market” plan, working with all departments to execute
  • Develops potential partner relationships for the product, and negotiates OEM contracts for key accounts
  • Ensures Senior Management is informed and consulted on major product line developments and decisions
  • Develops market requirements, volume requirement and product positioning
  • Manages the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers and by attending appropriate trade shows
  • Works with R&D to develop the product definition, including: specifications; cost; release date; product updates
  • Provide oversight of Coherent’s gate process for affected products

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide monthly sales forecasts
  • Train the Coherent sales team and distributors for affected products
  • Develop positioning strategy for products
  • Other Responsibilities as assigned

Education and Work Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum four years technical experience; laser/photonics market a plus.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally 10-15% of the time.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office products and ability to work with MRP systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate essential information to customers, management and co-workers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to assemble/disassemble Coherent exhibit booth involving: overhead work, use of a step stool or ladder, lifting boxes/packages up to 50 lbs, loading and unloading crate
