Job Summary
Operates the specific vehicles used for the project work in their field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
- Must have a current Pennsylvania Driver's License
- Meet all federal and state requirements for a Class B license
- Obtain a current medical examination certificate that has been administered by a certified D.O.T. Physician
- Pass a controlled substance test
- Complete entirety of the training program (160 hours / 4 weeks)
- Learn to operate truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, coal, and bituminous paving materials;
or must operate a truck equipped with a water tank to transport and spread water on job sites
- Conduct pre-trip inspection checklist on equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water
- Handle paperwork concerning Department of Transportation regulations, freight weigh bills, fuel tickets and load tickets
- Carry out detailed instructions, take directions to job sites, but also must be able to use good judgement in decision making and be able to work without direct supervision.
- Must be able to oil, grease and fuel truck
- Must have the ability to operate the vehicle safely in traffic situations and follow the policies and procedures of the company
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving history
Skills
- Ability to learn quickly and follow detailed instructions
- Must be able to work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands
Physical Requirements
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms
- Standing / working on feet for long periods
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
