Mission
Reporting directly to the Safety Director, the Assistant Environmental Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive environmental compliance program. In this role, the Assistant Environmental Manager will be responsible for the development and monitoring of operating permits. This role will work across all internal companies to ensure effective environmental investigations, data analysis, monitoring, and reporting of compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and Reeves’ policies and procedures. The Assistant Environmental Manager will understand compliance as it relates to environmental hazards such as management of hazardous materials, stormwater, air quality, etc. The ideal candidate will be an analytical self-starter who can work independently and in teams and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment. This position is part of the Environmental Health and Safety team and requires a high level of interaction and collaboration with multiple state and local agencies, as well as internal programs.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and support the development, planning implementation and maintenance of Company environmental policies
- Prepare, maintain and update environmental policy and procedures
- Ensure and monitor compliance with all environmental regulations
- Obtain and maintain environmental permits and programs
- Develop, implement and track the progress of programs for the control and reduction of environmental matters
- Evaluate, advise and stay current with emerging environmental regulations or compliance issues to ensure that management and employees are informed about requirements, policies, and impacts to our operations
- Serve as a technical consultant/subject matter expert for environmental questions, concerns and compliance issues. This includes performing any necessary research and providing solutions in a written or verbal format and serving as a consultant on complex investigations
- Represent the company before government agencies in environmental matters
- Participate in workshops for new and updating Environmental Regulations
- Oversee the preparation and timely submittal of environmental reporting and permitting requirements
- Lead company compliance with Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility programs
- Train employees on Environmental updates and regulations
Education, Experience and Skills
- Degree from an accredited college/university
- Preferably have experience with Asphalt Plant permitting and operations
- Minimum of 1-3 years of environmental compliance experience
- Knowledgeable in industrial SPCC, SWP3, and air permitting issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Ability to analyze complex information
- Advanced skill using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
