Main Responsibilities
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for analyzing material (asphalt) for conformance to certain specifications. Willing to teach all aspects of the position.
ORGANZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will report to the Quality Manager. This position will interact with quality employees, quality manager, paving crews, asphalt plant employees, vendors, management staff, and inspectors.
SPECIFIC REPONSIBILITIES:
Operating and maintaining laboratory testing equipment to analyze material
Reporting and maintaining accurate quality control reports
Driving to manufacturing plants and job sites to obtain asphalt samples
Determining sample compliance with ODOT specifications and company’s quality control program
Troubleshooting and making recommendations to Quality Manager on improving processes
Additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
The Quality Lab Technician will have graduated from a standard vocational or high school. Experience with construction materials, testing, reporting, and sampling is a plus. Successful applicants will be trained on specifics of the role on the job.
Reasoning Abilities:
Must be able to employ independent judgment and resourcefulness in performing quality testing and reporting
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required
Mechanical aptitude is required
Ability to use and understand basic Microsoft Office products
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with the company’s Motor Vehicle Policy
Working Conditions:
Most of the Quality Lab Technician work will be in a climate-controlled lab on concrete floors.
The Quality Lab Technician will also work outside on uneven surfaces, while collecting samples from manufacturing plants and job sites. Must be able to lift 50lbs multiple times during the work day.
