The QA/QC Technician is responsible for the testing of hot mix asphalt, concrete, and aggregates to ensure adherence to federal, state, and/or customer specifications. This position works closely with asphalt and concrete plant personnel, Plant Supervisor, and governmental agencies.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform sampling and various lab tests on hot mix asphalt; such as volumetric measurements and asphalt content
- Perform testing on concrete for consistency, air content, and strength
- Perform sampling and testing of stock aggregates; including gradation, gravity absorption, and crush counts
- Complete governmental and customer reports on test results
- Communicate results of testing to Asphalt Operator, Plant Supervisor, governmental agencies, and customers as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Experience and Education
- HS Diploma
- Experience with Materials testing preferred, but not required
- Experience with Quality Control/Assurance preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements
- Extensive standing and walking
- Occasional climbing of stairs/ladders
- Lifting up to 80 pounds
- Working with and near moving mechanical parts
- Interaction with heating devices, such as hot plates, propane burners, and electric ovens
