The Controls Technician is responsible for on-shift support and maintenance of the electrical and control systems
What you will do
- Maintain and troubleshoot plant floor electrical components including: valves, loop controllers, solenoids, control system I/O, measurement and instrumentation systems (flow meters, load cells, photoelectrics, level probes, metal detectors, container fill detectors, touch screen monitors, computer equipment and peripherals and container vacuum detection.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) including Allen-Bradley PLC5, Allen-Bradley SLC500, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Wonderware-based Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) or Panelview.
- Function as a technical resource and shift troubleshooting resource for operations, maintenance and engineering (requires climbing, bending and crawling).
- Conduct training for controls and electrical related systems for maintenance and operations personnel.
- Document changes made to software and hardware (electrical and process and instrumentation prints).
- Be accountable for meeting or exceeding safety standards according to the published Hill's Safety Policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- At least 3 years manufacturing plant technical experience
- Two years technical degree in a related field
- Ability to read and use electrical schematics
- Proven experience of troubleshooting electrical circuits (3 phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC, 24 VAC and VDC control circuits)
- Validated experience of troubleshooting and programming PLC's utilizing ladder logic programming,
- Know, understand and interpret NEC regulatory requirements
- Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a computer utilizing Google Suite applications
- Be available to work on different shifts and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 years plant floor experience in a manufacturing or programming role or a degree in a related field
- Experience in troubleshooting Wonderware Intouch
- Experience working with Microsoft SQL databases
- Experience using Wonderware INSQL data historian, Wonderware DT analyst downtime analysis tool
- Experience using Industrial Networks (Profibus, Devicenet, Data Highway, Ethernet, HART Communicator
Salary Range $61,600 - $100,065 USD
Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
