Accountabilities:
Primarily accountable for speed and accuracy of execution (including ethical standards) of purchase orders.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing effective customer service and effective training and communication related to key departmental technologies.
• Accurate and timely reporting and information gathering related to key department functions as assigned.
• Vendor onboarding and accountability including, but not limited to timeliness, cost efficiency, quality and ethics as assigned.
• Campus wide vending services.
• Providing backup support in the absence of key staff within the department.
• Campus wide training of department procedures and preferred suppliers such as travel, office supplies and science equipment.
• Employee Discount Program.
• Planning and execution of all department/program events.
• Vendor maintenance within Purchasing systems as assigned.
• Other duties required to support departmental goals.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

• Two or more years experience in procurement, some or all of which in a higher education setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with purchasing information systems and corresponding best practices.
• Proven ability to successfully implement best practices policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated expertise in both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, and experience using and learning other accounting and financial systems.
• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
• Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students within a university setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education.
• Experience with Banner Finance and Unimarket.
• Experience with contract management.
• Experienced in supplier management.

Education
A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required, or a combination of education and work experience from which comparable skills have been obtained.

The Campus Safety Department will provide upon request a copy of Colgates Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1. crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colgate University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus and 2. fires that occurred in student housing facilities. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security and fire safety, such as policies concerning sexual assault, life safety systems, and other related matters.
