Job Description
CSN Libraries is looking for a collaborative, collegial individual to serve as our Technical Services Coordinator. This position is the head of Technical Services at CSN Libraries, reporting directly to the Library Director. In collaboration with the Library Director, departmental librarians, and other technical services staff, the Technical Services Coordinator is responsible for all planning, researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating activities and services associated with technical services operations for CSN Libraries, which include acquisitions, cataloging, and materials processing (electronic and physical). Additionally, this position is responsible for direct supervision and guidance of the Technical Services Department staff.
The Technical Services Coordinator is responsible for:

Creating and administering policies and procedures for technical services across all CSN Libraries

Supervising and managing the processing and cataloging of physical and electronic library materials and ensuring information is correctly entered in Alma, our library service platform.

Identifying, collecting, and collating data needed for the evaluation of technical services processes, collection development, and yearly statistical reporting.

Tracking expenditures in certain collection areas and informing the Acquisitions Librarian and Library Director on collection expenditures as requested

Assisting the Acquisitions Librarian and Library Director in the compilation of biennial budget requests by providing necessary information

Supervising and leading the technical services staff

Providing courteous and professional service to internal and external customers

Serving on library teams and representing the needs of technical services

Participating in professional development to stay current in the field while supporting other technical services staff in doing the same.
The Technical Services Coordinator will work closely with the Acquisitions Librarians, Systems Librarian, Access Services Coordinator and Library Director in their day-to-day work. Providing all library services through a lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion is a strategic priority for CSN Libraries. The library seeks candidates who are equally dedicated to this initiative, and who seek to provide library services to a variety of student populations, contributing to the library's presence as a welcoming place for the entire CSN community. This position will be located at the Charleston Campus but may be expected to travel to other campuses occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3-4 years of experience working in a library technical services or cataloging department.

Experience supervising others in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Knowledge of library cataloging practices; Knowledge of academic library purchasing practices.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with external and internal stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to load and edit MARC21 records for local library collection.

Knowledge of and experience with library service platforms and/or resource management systems, especially Alibris' Alma system
-
Demonstrated familiarity with CSN purchasing procedures, or similar procedures at another institution.

Experience working with Workday or a similar system.

Demonstrated ability to train and supervise staff completing technical services work.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Current on practices, policies, procedures, and current trends in libraries related to technical services (i.e., acquisitions, collection development, cataloging, and processing)

Able to perform administrative functions in the library services platform and manage and work within acquisitions and resource management systems, according to best practices.

Able to practice assessment techniques and utilize assessments to improve library services.

Able to supervise technical services staff which includes delegating and assigning appropriate tasks, coordinating with the Library Director and library leadership team to ensure smooth operations and advocate for appropriate resources.
Starting Salary Range
Administrative Faculty C
The minimum starting salary is $61,875.00 The successful candidate may be placed above the minimum of the range based on education and experience.
