Rio Verde, located in Cornelius, Oregon, was acquired on September 1, 2018. Rio specializes in evergreen shrubs, trees, and specialty crops. It consists of 300 acres that include 160 acres of field-grown plants and 140 acres of container-grown plants.

We are looking for an experienced plant grower who has advanced herbaceous plant knowledge, excels with systems and processes, and can get things done. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Herbaceous Program: The herbaceous plant grower works with area crew leaders and crew members to lead, manage, produce and maintain overall plant quality according to the production plan
- Inventory Control: Maintain an accurate inventory through cycle counts and inventory audits as necessary. Train area crew leaders to use growing space appropriately based on the production plan and plant cultural needs
- Plant Health: Work closely with the IPM Foreman and Production Manager to ensure the best pest and disease control plan is in place
- Production Plan: Work closely with Production Manager to implement production plan according to sales plan and production schedules
- Training: Develop, schedule and conduct training for operational processes as deemed necessary
Essential Job Duties:
- Coordinate with the Production Manager and Production Coordinator to establish weekly/monthly plans and priorities for areas of responsibility to efficiently execute the plan and manage work orders
- Oversee all cultural maintenance activities and ensure efficient and quality work is being performed
- Lead by example and enforce safety rules to ensure that all employees are properly following safety processes set forth by management
- Drive inventory accuracy and continuous availability adjustments
- Initiate, train and institutionalize measuring and monitoring metrics for major activities in area of responsibility
- Ensure that all resources needed are in supply and in good working condition.
- Work directly with the Production Coordinator to order and keep supplies on-hand in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Document all processes related to growing and cultural maintenance of the herbaceous program
- Maintain safe operation of specified container area equipment
- Follow up daily with your crew to verify that they have clocked in and out
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: 1 Year of Green Industry operation-related experience
- Required: One year of management experience
- Required: Advanced knowledge of herbaceous plant production methods and techniques
- Highly Preferred: Proficient in both English and Spanish
