General Statement Of Duties:

Develops educational material and curriculum utilizing current educational practices to present and facilitate educational programs for Colorado Judicial Branch employees.

Distinguishing Factors:

The Education Specialist classification is distinguished from the Training Administrator classification by the stronger emphasis on training and facilitating courses. The Education Specialist will not have responsibility for policy development for the unit.

Essential Functions Of the Position:

• Coordinates with court and probation managers, supervisors, and employees in the design and development of training curriculum and course material.
• May chair committees in charge of developing training courses.
• Assists in planning and organizing retreats and cooperative training events including securing training location, lodging, materials, and trainers.
• Collects evaluations at the closing of training, compiles results and provides reports on training effectiveness. Identifies trends in training evaluations and makes recommendations.
• Provides training and presentations and facilitates discussions in a learning format independently or as a co-trainer/facilitator.
• Adjusts training to fit participant needs.
• Communicates effectively with probation and court staff, other governmental agencies, private contractors, and the public.
• Creates reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials in a timely manner.
• Remains current with training concepts, trends, and technology.
• Attends meetings and training as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments:

We are looking for a motivated education specialist who is a facilitator, trainer, and instructional designer in the area of leadership development, supervisory skills and soft skills such as emotional intelligence, coaching, time management, etc. Classes and trainings are offered both in-person and virtually. This position will also handle administrative duties such as scheduling classes, arranging locations, and supplies.

Other responsibilities may include committee work, technical assistance, and general support for district staff and outside facilitators including knowledge of our learning management system(SABA). This position will primarily serve court and probation employees, supervisors, and leadership across the 23 Judicial Districts throughout Colorado.

This position is in the Human Resources division of the State Court Administrator’s office located in Denver at the Ralph Carr Judicial Center. We operate from a flexible workplace arrangement policy where both remote and in-person work are utilized on an individual basis. Travel up to 25%.

The hiring salary for this position will be at the beginning of the listed salary range with little/no negotiation possible.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

No formal supervisory responsibility. Responsibility for one's own work product and work within a unit performing similar functions. Rarely provides lead function, advice, or explains work instructions to other employees or volunteers.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university and three years of training or comparable work experience.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

This position is subject to many interruptions and may be required to handle multiple calls and inquiries at once. The employee must cooperatively operate in a team environment or independently as required. The noise level is usually moderate.
