What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metallurgical Engineer position at Colorado Metallurgical Services?
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct failure analysis investigations including gathering metallurgical data and operating testing equipment (Microscopes, SEM, OES, XRF, Hardness Testers, etc.)
- Prepare and examine metallographic specimens for optical microscopy
- Operate SEM for fracture assessment, EDS, etc.
- Report writing on root cause analyses for failures of metal components including fractures, corrosion, etc.
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Training and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field
- Strong Computer Skills and Microsoft Office Proficient
- 3 years’ experience in laboratory or forensic setting
- Experience in operating various testing equipment related to machining operations or welding preferred

- Excellent organizational and time management skills with proven ability to take ownership of multiple projects with impeccable attention to detail
