Medical-Surgical Onboarding Specialist

Under the general supervision of the Medical/Surgical Directors, instructs, counsels, monitors, and evaluates nursing personnel during orientation to the hospital or unit; assists in planning, presenting, evaluating, and revising staff development activities from onboarding through the first year of nursing. Will work closely with the Nurse Residency Coordinator and the education department.


  • Instructs, counsels, and monitors the work of nursing orientees in the aspects of clinical nursing relative to assigned area; educates nursing orientees concerning nursing policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Educator and the orientee’s Nurse Manager in planning and structuring the orientation program to meet the individual orientee's needs; plans daily assignments for orientees.
  • Performs ongoing assessment and regular formal evaluations of nursing staff during the orientation period; documents all observations and submits recommendations to the Nurse Manager (i.e., duration of individual orientation).
  • Assists the Clinical Educator in planning, presenting, evaluating, and revising the staff development activities and orientation clinical plan.
  • Serves as a role model and resource person for all nursing staff.
  • Educate and perform ongoing assessments of the medical/surgical preceptors

Experience

Required
  • Minimum 5 years nursing experience
  • Current RN license in GA; BLS; ACLS; PALS

Education

Required
  • Associates or better in Nursing

Licenses & Certifications

Required
  • Registered Nurse
