Description of Job:
The Traffic Supervisor coordinates and expedites the shipments of materials to and from customers according to the priorities established by the Project Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Traffic Supervisor performs a variety of duties that require working directly with Project Manager and warehouse personnel on the scheduling of shipments and keeps them informed of any issues or potential delays on shipments. Work involves most of the following:
- Oversee transportation department and all assets required for shipment
- Ensure customer goods move from the supply chain to the end user within the required timeframes
- Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities
- Complete all required documentation and data entry functions to include GBLs, CBLs, manifests and all other forms of transportation documentation
- Maintain a Carrier Performance Program
- Divert, re-consign and expedite frustrated shipments
- Provide transportation cost estimates for external customers
- Respond to customer inquiries on individual shipments as well as inquiries on transportation cumulative data
- Coordinate with DOD transportation commands for transportation where no guaranteed traffic exists
- Prepare various DOT reports in accordance with Defense Transportation Regulation DoD 4500-9R
- Perform other qualified duties as required
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Active SECRET security clearance
- US Citizen
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1 years Naval Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) & Naval Aviation Logistics Command/Maintenance Information System (NALCOMIS)
- 1 years shipping and booking experience
- Knowledge or experience in the handling and management of Government Property
- Working experience in Navy Procurement, Logistics, Property Management, Inventory Control and Warehouse Management, and Transportation
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience in Export Regulations and ITAR
- Commercial best packaging (ASTMD3951-10) and Military Packaging (MIL-STD-2073-1)
- DOT Title 49 CFR, Parts 172-176, Transportation of Hazardous Material and packaging
- OPNAVINST 4110.2, Hazardous Material Control and Management
- OPNAV 5530.13, DON Physical Security Instruction for Conventional Arms, Ammunition and Explosives
- Excellent computer and MS Office skills (with emphasis on Excel/PowerPoint)
- Possess an ability to work in a diverse/integrated work environment
- Must be able to work independently as well as be a team player, and make decisions
- Demonstrated analytical skills with ability to multi-task utilizing good organization and prioritization skills
- Work well under pressure with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills; fostering key relationships with functional leadership and other key stakeholders
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
