About Us

Columbus Bank and Trust Company is a locally owned, home town bank that originally opened its doors on February 2, 1935 and has remained in local ownership for over 80 years. The original owners were R.V. Prokop, J.H. Moeller, and W.E. Barkley. The Bradley Family took ownership in 1938 and retained ownership until July of 2013 when a local group of investors purchased the bank appointing Jeff Johnson as President and Chairman of the Board.

The Bank has grown substantially in many ways over the past few years. In 2004, the East Highway 30 location was opened, and since then several renovations to the downtown location have occurred. Through this growth we have never lost focus of our customers and the community we serve. Our staff is very active in many civic, church and other local organizations, giving of themselves to keep our community strong.

Position Description

As a Lead Specialist Mortgage Operations, you’ll take a lead role in delivering an outstanding experience to Columbus Bank and Trust customers. You’ll acquire, manage, and retain meaningful relationships with our customers, using your financial knowledge to offer thoughtful solutions to help address their financial needs. You’ll contribute to the success of the bank by:

• Provide quality customer service by delivering prompt and accurate information
• Assist in the identification and implementation of enhancements to site procedures, training and technology in support of the enhancement of customer retention/satisfaction, the revenue and profitability objectives of Columbus Bank and Trust.
• Process mortgage loans to meet or exceed defined standards, productivity and accuracy. Included in this is ordering various services for the loan, including title insurance, appraisal, verifications of employment, and credit reports. You'll also work with the income, asset, and credit documents associated with the file and ensure that the documentation that the underwriter needs is obtained.
• Exhibit professional behavior and promote positive working relationships with business partners including the sales team, credit team, and compliance team.
• Demonstrate organizational advocacy through positive teamwork, trust and mutual respect for customers and employees.

• Contribute to the overall success of Columbus Bank and Trust by actively referring customers to alternative products and services offered within the bank.

• Assist with other bank functions as needed.  This would include personal banker duties and participating in bank committees.

Desired:

At least one year experience in:

1. Mortgage Servicing, or
2. Financial services sales
3. Consultative relationship sales role in a related industry, with proven success in establishing new clients, deepening customer relationships and delivering results
4. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and some evenings
