Files and maintains the time book. Works with timekeepers to ensure that all employee time is recorded correctly.
Assists employees and the public with information; answers the telephone and forwards calls. Performs background checks.
Processes forms and reports.
Updates information in Personnel Manager database. Prepares, audits and maintains payroll for the Columbus Police Department.
Enters Personnel Action Forms into the City Advantage 360 Payroll System. Arranges physical exams, drug tests, and fingerprinting for new employees.
Evaluate new requests to determine what Department records are being requested, and seek clarification from requestors as needed.
Analyze the requested records or the expected number and type of records from the internal sources and, within the required three business days of receipt, either provide the records to the requester or a reasonable estimate of time for providing the records, including an estimate of costs.

Determine whether a request seeks evidence for criminal investigations or cases and communicate with the requester for additional steps to releasable, responsive documents.
Conduct accurate legal analysis to redact all information that is protected according to state and federal law. Records that require review and redaction include paper documents, electronic files, photographs, videos, and audio files.
Provide a requestor with each legal basis for every redaction, including every document lawfully withheld from disclosure.
Maintain a working knowledge of the Georgia Open Records Act and department training related to the Act.
Determine the appropriate source of requested records within the department. Extensive research may be required, depending on the type of record requested.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
