POSITION: Language Curriculum Coordinator

SALARY: $22.36- $26.57, per hour

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

LOCATION: Language Program, Nespelem, WA

Basic Functions: Incumbent will coordinate the planning, development and production of curriculum materials, process and apply best practices to be highly effective for teaching.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Language Certificate
  • Requires AA degree and 2 year experience.
  • Alternatively, a high school diploma and 5 years progressively responsible experience in teaching and/or curriculum development of one of the three languages of the CCT may be accpeted.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Educations of Curriculum is preferred and may substitute for some experience.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and be eligible for the Tribe's vehicle insurance and maintain through employment.

    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of best practices to teach Native American languages and the best practices for teaching Native American children through adult populations, including language immersion.
  • Requires knowledge of the history and cultures of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservations
  • Requires knowledge of using electronic, video, audio equipment and a professional publications software.
  • Requires knowledge of the Phonetic Alphabet, which is the writing systems used by the Colville Tribes Language Program to the nselxcin, nxa?amxcin, and titoqatimt languagees.
  • Requires knowledge of the Phonetic Alphabet software to type the nxselxcin, nxa?amxcin, and ninipu languages.
  • Requires knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design and development of curriculum.
  • Requires knowledge of appropriate safety and security and precautions appropriate to work preformed.
  • Requires ability to function indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature
  • Requires ambulatory ability to sit for extended periods of time, to utilize microcomputers and peripheral equipment, accomplish other desktop work, and to move to various office and community locations.
  • Requires ability to use near vision to read printed materials.
  • Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone.
  • Requires ability to retrieve work materials from overhead, waist, and ground levels.
  • Requires manual and finger dexterity to write, use a pointing device and keyboard at an acceptable rate that meets department deadlines.
