What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Broker position at Combined Transport, Inc.?
The job of the Freight Broker position is to establish relationships and communicate with current freight shippers and new freight shippers through cold calling, email correspondence and at times, in person meets, in order to develop as many of the best paying loads as possible and highest margins, while supplying the correct equipment through partner carriers. This position will report to and collaborate with the Divisional Manager regarding freight, rates and customers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION:
1. Responsible for establishing relationships with outside trucking companies to move Combined Transport, Inc.’s excess freight.
2. Responsible for maintaining appropriate information for each company used.
3. Responsible for tracking and maintaining contact with all outside trucking companies used.
4. Responsible for maximizing the commission percentage on each load.
5. Responsible for executing contracts on each load moved.
6. Responsible for all communication with outside carriers.
7. Responsible for advertising available loads to outside companies.
8. Responsible for coordinating advance payments for outside trucking companies.
9. Responsible for ensuring that all outside trucking companies are safe, legal and insured.
10. Responsible for establishing relationships with freight shippers through phone communications, email and periodic personal visits.
11. Responsible for quoting and negotiating rates with customers on all loads in conjunction with your Divisional Manager.
12. Responsible for all documentation of the facts of loads and commitments on load tickets to include dates and times of commitments. All loads must have written rate confirmation either through email or other documentation.
13. Responsible for making sales calls to all new shippers, consignees and any other leads from any source.
