Core Responsibilities
Program and Policy Development
Offers suggestions to maintain and improve the company's EHS programs.
Program Implementation
Implements EHS standards and procedures in areas such as ergonomics, illness and injury prevention and building safety used throughout the company.
Implements programs to reduce environmental impacts, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction/recycling, idle-time reduction.
Collaboration and Internal Reporting
Provides guidance to EHS committees on improving the effectiveness of EHS processes.
Using data from company databases and metrics, prepares presentations for, and conducts EHS meetings for frontline employees and peer work groups.
Works under limited guidance from supervisor.
Subject Matter Expertise
Coaches front line employees in following existing procedures to promote proper and safe use of equipment such as body harnesses or belts, ladders, voltage detectors, and in the proper management of used equipment and waste.
Works with employees on the availability and guidance of standard tools and equipment to minimize risks to employee health and safety.
Recommends changes to processes, to include good EHS practices and training, in areas such as PPE, equipment use, and waste management.
Evaluates both office and technician ergonomics and recommends approaches and improvements.
Facilitates compliance with federal, state and local EHS regulations and interacts with governmental agency personnel, as appropriate.
Prepares material for use in safety training programs.
Assessments and Investigations
Through onsite inspections, assesses the implementation of EHS compliance programs in areas such as emergency preparedness, spill prevention, universal waste, ladder safety, defensive driving, aerial lift, electrical safety, PPE, hazardous material handling and shipping, emergency response, and fire and life safety.
Reviews corrective action to closure.
Conducts field safety observations (FSO) on technicians and conducts ride-outs with supervisors while they are performing FSOs.
Uses existing EHS management information system (MIS) databases to document and investigate accidents, log inspections, and monitor corrective actions.
Serves as the point of contact for emergency personnel, such as employee accidents or environmental releases.
Personal Judgment
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in routine matters; consult with leadership on significant issues.
Schedule and Travel
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, travel variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
