What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Technician position at Comcentric?
We are currently seeking a GIS Data Technician for a Remote opportunity. This is for a temporary 6 month assignment (with potential for extension or Conversion).
***Must be U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder to be considered No 3rd party candidates are allowed for this client***
Responsibilities/Technical Skills:
- Performs geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, management and analysis, cartography, and utilizes GIS processes using a variety of software environments.
- Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS.
- Enter new map data through use of GIS software using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
- Working Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, etc.
Technical Skills that would be helpful:
- Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, MapInfo, or other GIS applications)
- SQL
- Data Analysis experience
- GE SmallWorld
- Toad
- CAD
- FME
- Alteryx
- Experience with other Spatial Databases
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of Data Analysis experience
- Experience with SQL, GIS, GE smallworld
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
