What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver position at Comfort Keepers Western Tidewater?
Provides the highest quality personal care services to clients giving them dignity, respect, and as much independence as possible.
Key Accountabilities:
- Accountable for meeting or exceeding internal and external quality standards of care.
- Accountable for 100% customer satisfaction.
- Accountable for being dependable in keeping to arranged schedules and being on time and clocking in on time to client homes.
- Accountable for reporting immediately to your supervisor any client and/or caregiver falls and/or injuries.
- Accountable for adhering to applicable internal and external policies, procedures, training, and continuing education requirements.
Detail: Following the tasks assigned on the Service Plan, a personal care aide may render hands-on personal care services to clients in their residence under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Duties may include:
1. Assisting clients with personal hygiene, including shower, tub or bed baths, oral care, hair and skin care.
2. Assisting patients in the use of toilet facilities, including bed pans.
3. Assisting clients in and out of bed, potentially with the use of mechanical lifting equipment.
4. Assisting clients with walking, including the use of walkers and wheelchairs, when applicable.
5. Assisting clients with self-administration of medications.
6. Meal preparation and feeding.
7. Assisting with prescribed exercises when the patient and the aide have been instructed by the appropriate health professional.
8. Measuring and recording fluid intake and output.
9. Recording and reporting changes in the client’s physical condition, behavior or appearance.
10. Documenting services delivered in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
Contact with blood or other body fluids may pose a risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens. May be subjected to random drug testing.
Part time positions. All days of the week and hours potential. No guaranteed hours. Non-exempt.
Reports to: HR Manager and Client Care Director.
Requirements: CNA, PCA, or certification for providing personal care recognized by the State of Virginia. Excellent business and personal references. Reliable transportation and working phone. Genuinely concerned about helping people. High morale standards of honesty and integrity. Satisfactorily complete Comfort Keepers training and orientation program. Applicant must be bondable and meet or exceed minimum qualifications for each of the following background checks: Criminal Background Investigation, Motor Vehicle Driving Record, and give permission to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
