Position Summary: The Safety Officer is an essential member of our team, responsible for ensuring the well-being of our staff, clients, and the community. As a Safety Officer, your primary duties include developing and implementing safety procedures and regulations, as well as monitoring compliance with safety standards across all projects and activities.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards
Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates
Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations
Inspect safety equipment; recommends replacements
Review accidents and incidents reported by employees
Updates field supervisor with employee safety infractions
Keep abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to improve the company’s safety programs continuously
Visit crew workstations throughout the day to ensure compliance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to identify unsafe situations or potentially unsafe situations
Thorough understanding of health and safety laws
Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Strong attention to detail
Able to lift 25lbs and climb up and down a ladder safely
Able to work in extreme weather conditions
Committed to a minimum of 40-hour work weeks
Ability to work in and around restricted/ confined spaces
