Position Summary
The Plant Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operations of a manufacturing facility. This position requires a dynamic individual with exceptional management and operational skills to ensure the plant meets production targets, maintains product quality, adheres to safety standards, and maximizes cost-efficiency. The Plant Manager plays an important role in maintaining and enhancing the overall success of the facility.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities - Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain a culture of safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Monitor and promote safe work practices and conduct regular safety audits.
- Quality Control:
- Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to ensure that products meet or exceed industry and company standards.
- Investigate and address any quality issues promptly to prevent recurrence.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
- Manage raw material and finished goods inventory to optimize stock levels and reduce excess holding costs.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure timely and cost-effective material procurement.
- Production Management:
- Develop and execute production plans to meet or exceed output targets while maintaining product quality and efficiency.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance production processes and reduce waste.
- Budgeting and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the plant's budget, monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Optimize resource allocation and cost-effective production processes.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team.
- Foster a collaborative and engaged workforce, setting clear expectations, and providing regular feedback.
- Maintenance and Equipment:
- Oversee maintenance schedules and equipment reliability to minimize downtime.
- Ensure that all equipment is in optimal working condition and coordinate repairs when necessary.
- Environmental Stewardship:
- Implement environmentally responsible practices, minimizing the plant's environmental footprint.
- Comply with relevant environmental regulations and seek opportunities for sustainability improvements.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain open and effective communication with senior management, employees, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide regular reports on plant performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Up to 15% travel may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, business, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- 5 years proven experience as a Plant Manager or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, safety, and inventory management.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Proficiency in budgeting, cost management, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrated manufacturing engineering experience and strong engineering acumen is preferred.
- Experience with supporting the launch of new customer programs.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Understanding of environmental regulations and a commitment to sustainability.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of relevant software and tools for plant management, such as Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Safety certifications and training in safety protocols (e.g., OSHA certification) is preferred.
