The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer hardware and software systems as well as network connections. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. This person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware, software, program, and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, as well as provide end user training where required.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of networking and server hardware, software, and related appliances and devices.
  • Manages and administrates all operating systems and their corresponding or associated hardware and software.
  • Manages communications and connection solutions, including local area networks, intranet, and Internet applications.
  • Manages and ensures the integrity of host computers, multiple databases, and data transfer.
  • Downloads assesses and installs all security and software patches in the appropriate workstations and servers. 
  • Monitors system logs to ensure security and software performance and provides statistics and reports.
  • Distributes and supervises server storage space allotments.
  • Performs computer system maintenance on the credit union’s LAN and WAN hardware and software. 
  • Analyzes system or application usage and plans for growth or increases in network capacity.
  • Assesses the need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and executes them if required.
  • Ensures connectivity of all workstations.
  • Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of hardware and all systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure hardware, software products and services.
  • Develops implements and maintain procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
  • Administers and maintains end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Performs network and security audits.
  • Performs system backups.
  • Ensures that the latest virus protection is installed on all appropriate areas. 
  • Recommends, schedules, and performs software improvements, upgrades and /or purchases.
  • Serves as the backup for the Core Systems Administrator and Technical Support Specialist Follow all credit union policies and procedures, including policies and procedures for customer identification and all BSA requirements
  • Any and all other duties assigned

Requirements:

  • A minimum education of Associates Degree.
  • Preferred 4-year degree in Information Technology with a concentration in networking and system security.
  • Ability and aptitude to analyze and resolve highly technical problems relating to network server and infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent analytical, customer support, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must have working technical knowledge of, network, servers, PCs, and operating systems
  • Must have experience with data management. 

 

The Ideal Candidate: 

  • Will have a hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience. 
  • Will be adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals. 
  • Will have the ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language. 
  • Will have proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Must have the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Work effectively with all levels of American 1 organization
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Must be flexible with working hours. Work schedules occasionally change on short notice to cover unexpected business needs. Available to respond to network issues/problems on 24X7 basis
  • Licensed driver, ability to travel from location to location
  • Frequent standing, walking, use of telephone and computer, lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Is detail-oriented and curious, and will leverage research to resolve issues
  • Possesses attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a strict standard of confidentiality
