Junior Production Assistant

Common Ground Research Networks (Not-for-Profit) is seeking a Junior Production Assistant to assist the Publishing Department. This position offers the chance to learn about academic publishing and gain real-world experience in a publishing environment. Duties and responsibilities will focus on selecting and assigning peer reviewers to article submissions and assisting with other production-related tasks based on necessity and level of experience.

Skills and Abilities

· Advanced or expert proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (Microsoft Office, Google Tools)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Ability to focus simultaneously on short- and long-term projects

· Interest in academic publishing

Responsibilities:

· Assign peer reviewers to journal article submissions

· Correspond with academics and other publishing professionals

· Assist with other stages of the production process as needed

About Us

Common Ground Research Networks is a not-for-profit based in the Research Park at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Our mission is to support the building of better societies, and informed citizens, via rigorous and inclusive social knowledge practices within scholarly societies. We do this by curating and supporting scholarly communication spaces – academic conferences, scholarly journals, books and developing independent software solutions.
