Birdie’s is a cafe, oyster bar, and wine cellar located in the Arts District of Downtown Richmond. We’re known for our craft cocktails, East Coast oysters, homemade pastries, and shareable plates. We were just voted the Best New Restaurant in Virginia from Southern Living Magazine!
We are seeking an Oyster Shucker/Line Cook to be responsible for executing all aspects of our oyster program including cleaning, executing recipes and dishes storage, as well as shucking of oysters and preparing our small plates. The role will also assist with food preparation, follow recipes, maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment, and possess a growth mentality. An ideal candidate focuses on service, education, and a positive kitchen culture based on trust and respect.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Food preparation and basic knowledge of food safety practices
- Ability to follow recipes written by Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine
- Execute dishes and shuck oysters
- Clean your station and set up the next shift
- To be a good teammate to your fellow line cooks at Common House and to the service team
Qualifications:
- Preferred, but not required, 1 years experience in a professional kitchen
- Experience shucking oysters to order in a raw bar setting
- Possesses a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and take direction
- Self-motivated, positive demeanor, punctual, strong multitasking skills
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends
