Why This Role is Important to Us:

The Director, Financial Reporting will help lead the day-to-day accounting operations including overseeing GAAP transactions, internal controls, month-end and year-end closing activities, annual audit, full balance sheet account reconciliations and preparation of subsidiary & consolidated financial statements.



What You'll Be Doing:

  • Oversee the general accounting functions, which includes internal financial reporting, month-end closing, account receivable reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and balance sheet management.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of accounting policies and procedures and financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Statutory Accounting and CMS regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end accounting closings and financial reporting to multiple internal and external Departments.
  • Ensure timely completion of daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries, and generation and understanding of the different financial statements. (e.g., P&L, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, etc.)
  • Directs Accounting operations, processes, and strategies for multiple business units
  • Role will entail hands on management of accounting and reporting
  • Generate ad hoc analysis to support decision making across the organization
  • Directly responsible for the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and ensures each regulated entity has documented balance sheet reviews (Stat and US GAAP)
  • Provide strategic leadership of short and long-term accounting goals
  • Key contact point for the internal and external auditors
  • Performs other related duties and assists with special projects as assigned by management
  • Responsible for all consolidated entity reporting and clear reporting of non-controlling interest.


What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5 to 7 years in Health Insurance industry in progressive roles
  • Hands-on experience with a large ERP accounting system is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA, master's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Joint Ventures, multiple-state, M&A experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to manage and mentor accounting staff
  • Strong analytical, and financial reporting technical skills.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and compliance requirements of other financial statutes, including NAIC Statutory
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; ability to coordinate own priorities and those of others to meet multiple objectives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with and influence people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal direction from leadership.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to weigh multiple courses of action and anticipate how decisions will affect the larger business operation
