Description
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills, which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
The Luther Luckett Correctional Complex is currently seeking a Locksmith Administrator, which has the primary responsibility for the development, installation, and maintenance of the lock system at the institution.
Responsibilities May Include
- Develops and maintains the lock system within the adult institution.
- Participates in the development of methods and procedures for the installation and maintenance of the lock system.
- Repairs a variety of locks as needed such as cylinder locks, lever tumbler locks and pad locks.
- Combinates locks using manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Installs and repairs door closers, panic bars, doorknobs and related locking hardware.
- Oils and adjust doors and related locks. Makes new keys and duplicates keys as needed.
- Sets up numbering system for the duplication of keys according to the locksmith's codebook.
- Maintains records of old and new combinations, instructional materials and catalogs.
- Prepares and maintains required reports, work orders and cost estimates.
- Audits and purchase necessary equipment and supplies including blank keys and locks.
- Coordinates work of locksmith functions.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in the installation and repair of locks.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in the installation and repair of locks will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
