The The Department of Insurance (DOI) Legal Division is looking for someone with the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and excellence to become part of its dedicated and positive team. The DOI Legal Division provides outstanding legal services to the Department, which licenses and regulates insurance products and services in Kentucky. The DOI Legal Division represents the Department in administrative hearings and court litigation across the state; drafts and guides passage of administrative regulations, drafts legislative bills, drafts significant documents for the agency, provides legal advice to agency employees, and provides information about insurance laws to industry representatives and the public.

The Staff Attorney I will have the following responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Provides representation and other services in state courts and administrative forums for the Department’s Divisions
- Carries out simple and/or routine negotiations with clients, witnesses or other interested parties in gathering information
- Performs legal research, prepares briefs and drafts opinions
- Assists in drafting legislation and administrative regulations
- Assists the division in responding to open records requests
