By joining our District One, Project Development Branch, Planning Section as a Transportation Engineering Assistant I in McCracken County, you’ll have the opportunity to, with the specific written approval of the State Highway Engineer, to perform beginning level technical tasks in support of transportation engineering programs. Completes engineering paperwork, low level maintenance and/or construction inspections, basic surveying, and material sampling; and performs other duties as required.
Holders of the Transportation Engineering Assistant I position will complete tasks such as:

Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Travel may be required. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction which require the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
