Fort Boonesborough State Park is hiring to fill a position for a Water and Sewage Plant Operator I. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a sewage treatment plant, pumps and lift stations at a state recreational park. Fort Boonesborough State Park boasts a busy 166-site campground, replica 1775 fort, miniature golf, hiking trails, picnic shelters, boat ramp and a community pool.
Job duties include:
Fort Boonesborough State Park is hiring to fill a position for a Water and Sewage Plant Operator I. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a sewage treatment plant, pumps and lift stations at a state recreational park. Fort Boonesborough State Park boasts a busy 166-site campground, replica 1775 fort, miniature golf, hiking trails, picnic shelters, boat ramp and a community pool.
Job duties include:
- Operation and maintenance of a sewage treatment plant including pumps, lift stations, filters, UV lights and other operating equipment.
- Collects wastewater samples, performs tests, and adds prescribed chemicals.
- Inspects gauges and records information.
- Maintains required records and reports and submits them as needed in a timely fashion.
- Performs general maintenance on related equipment and work areas around the plant and lift stations.
- Proper procurement of needed supplies, equipment, and chemicals.
- Works alongside team members and staff in all areas to accomplish the goals of the park including assisting in mowing, weedeating, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, carpentry, and other general maintenance.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have one year in the operation of a water and/or sewage plant.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must have a valid Class I (or higher) water treatment operator's license and/or a Class I (or higher) wastewater operator's license as issued by the Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/kar/titles/401/005/010/ Must maintain any required licensure (s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency s responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Works outside in all types of weather conditions.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
