DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in public involvement activities, which will involve attending and monitoring events like public meetings, plan displays, public hearings, meetings with public officials, and environmental agency meetings. This will help ensure that the public's perspectives and concerns are taken into account during the decision-making process. Building strong relationships with resource agencies and the public will also be a key aspect of your role. By working collaboratively with these stakeholders, you will contribute to the improvement of the department's partnerships and relations with its customers.
Another important aspect of your role will be to attend scoping field views and provide the necessary information for the preparation of environmental documents. This will involve preparing scoping field view documents, memos, and engaging in verbal communication. You will also have the opportunity to assist in the development and delivery of environmental training for the district's design, construction, and maintenance staff. This will help ensure that all staff members have the necessary knowledge and skills to comply with environmental laws, policies, and regulations.
Maintaining environmental project files and records will be another responsibility in this role. This will involve organizing and managing documentation related to environmental projects. You will also play a role in assessing district activities to ensure compliance with environmental laws and integrating appropriate environmental compliance measures into project design, construction, and maintenance activities. Providing environmental data and support for securing required permits for district projects and activities will be another important aspect of your role. This will involve gathering and analyzing environmental data and assisting in the permit application process.
Finally, you will be responsible for responding to requests for environmental technical assistance and guidance on field operations and activities. This will involve providing expertise and guidance to colleagues who require assistance in navigating environmental considerations. Additionally, you may be asked to assist in monitoring construction and maintenance projects through periodic site
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
- Two years of professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or
- A Bachelor's degree in planning or environmental planning; and one year of professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or
- A Master's degree in environmental planning; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
